Modules:

Strategic Leadership

Learn how strategic approaches taken by a leader can contribute to an organisation’s performance. Designed to offer practical and problem-oriented learning, the emphasis is on how the leader can take strategic concepts and gain insight into competitive situations and strategic dilemmas faced by organisations.

Marketing Planning

Covering two themes, we’ll help you critically understand the practical tools, techniques, operations and processes involved in marketing. You’ll discover the marketing decisions on which effective marketing decisions and planning are based.

Organisational Behaviour

How do group dynamics influence group effectiveness? What impact does corporate culture have on behaviour? What does organisational behaviour mean for management practice? This module looks at organisations and their impact on human behaviour and organisational effectiveness.

Strategic Management

A fascinating discipline that studies the long-term purpose and direction of organisations and how to achieve competitive advantage. You will apply core frameworks and analytical techniques to assess organisational capabilities and resources, and evaluate strategies for shared value and sustainability.

Operations and Project Management

Operations are crucial to any organisation and a new venture can thrive or fail depending on how well it's managed. This module will help you develop the capability to establish successful operations in a rapidly changing enterprise. This module also considers the nature of the project environment, the role adopted by the project manager and the relationships between projects and the objectives of the sponsoring organisation.

Leadership and Change

Looking at change from a leader’s perspective, you’ll explore a range of themes including; the organisational context of change; understanding resistance to change, as well as how to manage a change process. You will also investigate approaches to leadership theory the application of these theories to your own personal leadership with a view to enhancing your performance as a preparation for management roles in the future.

Finance For Decision Making

Leaders require a comprehensive understanding of how financial considerations can influence decisions this module explores the financial factor and the techniques that might assist informed management decisions. It is assumed that you will have already acquired a knowledge of financial vocabulary, the concepts behind basic financial terminology and the financial statements. You will advance these skills by considering the availability of financial information that may be relevant to decision making, how they contribute to arriving at an informed decision, a review of the type of decision and differing requirements, leading to a more bespoke deliverable information set that meets the context of the decision.

Human Resources Management and Leadership

Explore human resources from a leader’s standpoint and get to grips with how strategic HR management and leadership are applied in a contemporary workplace.

Entrepreneurial Action

Here you will undertake a major project that focuses on your understanding and execution of entrepreneurial management in an area of specific interest to your or your organisation, such as:

  • An applied or engaged research project
  • An enterprise consultancy project
  • Taking a new business proposition through to proof of concept

Assessment

Formative assessment includes a range of discussion topics informing current environmental issues and appropriate application of theory and topic constructs. Tutors will provide feedback and feed-forward commentary on contemporary and appropriate research material and current affairs.

Summative assessment includes management reports. consultancy and portfolio exercises and a capstone module that allows learners to apply appropriate theory and to draw conclusions from rigorous academic and critical enquiry.

How long does it take?

2 years (September starters), or 2 years 5 months (January starters).

Everyone approaches their work differently and some people spend more time on their studies than others. However, on average, our students spend an average of 7 to 10 hours per week working on their course. This time can be spent on a range of activities including research, contributing on on-line discussions and working on your assignments.

Entry Requirements

You should have:

  • A degree from a UK university, normally at a minimum of lower second class honours; or equivalent from a non-UK university.
  • Or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Or work experience at an appropriate and relevant level for an MBA course, such as a post of management of professional responsibility over an extended period of time.

If English is not your first language, you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

As a distance learner, you’ll also need a suitable computer with internet connection, together with sufficient IT competence to make effective use of word processing, internet and email.

Fees & Funding

£9,900 for a limited time only.

The total cost of this course is £12,900, however a £3,000 scholarship is currently available. With this scholarship, which is available for a limited period, your course fee is reduced to £9,900 (subject to availability and acceptance).

Your course can be fully funded by the new Postgraduate Student Loans now available (subject to eligibility).
