The course has had a positive impact on me and my career development. I have introduced a number of organisational improvements, which are continuing today!
Stephen achieved his honorary degree whilst balancing full-time work and a young family. During his study he was promoted to Operations Manager in his company.
As well as personal development opportunities from the course, a degree is required to take on senior management roles within my organisation, and I wanted to progress my career.
The degree has enabled me to undertake research and learning in areas of management I may not have entered. A number of projects initiated by the course provided insight into opportunities for organisational improvement at work, whilst initiating a framework that could be used to present to senior managers.
My career has benefitted greatly, as midway through my course I was promoted from Production Manager to Operations Manager of the Fragrance Ingredients division UK.

The online tools for studying were easy to use. It was a great way to link with other students and module tutors. The layout for each module was the same, making it easier to understand as the work progressed. Module submission was very easy to use and provided the opportunity to review your work, help with citation and other useful tips, before final submission.
I have always been an advocate that ‘you get out what you put in.’ Studying for a degree, particularly through distance learning and whilst undertaking a full time job is very hard and requires discipline and sacrifices. However, the help and support provided by ARU and its tutors made things just that little easier to manage.

My time studying with ARU has been hard work, challenging, fulfilling but most of all satisfying.
Tips for students
Plan your study well in advance. Set aside a set amount of time each week/day for study. Avoid making significant commitments outside of study during term time. Always make time for family (life does exist outside of your study and provides a period for reflection). If undertaking a work based course look at opportunities where you can make a difference, this will make study much more enjoyable and meaningful.
